INSIG-MACEDONIA AD, Skopje

1991 – INSIG is established by the Law no. 7506, dated 31 July 1991 “For the Institute of Insurance” of the Albanian Parliament as the single state institution, that exercises insurance and reinsurance activity in the Republic of Albania;

1991 – The Council of Ministers issues the Decision no. 265, dated 08.02.1991 “On the division of the Institute of saving cash and insurance”;

1992 – INSIG as a representative of the Albanian Bureau of Motor becomes a member of the Council of the Bureau, the company starts the mandatory insurance of vehicles for liability to third parties;

1999 – The decision no. 21 463, dated 08.06.1999 “On the registration of the legal entity” of the Tirana District Court, the legal form of INSIG is that of joint stock company with 100% state capital, Shareholder – the Ministry of Finance;

2000 – With the official authorization no. 3, dated 08.06.2000 of the Insurance Supervisory Commission (KMS), INSIG is authorized to carry out insurance for damages, and the attached permit no. 42 protocol, dated 08.06.2000. With the authorization no. 4, dated 08.06.2000 again of KMS, INSIG is authorized to carry on life insurance and the attached the license no. 43 protocol, dated 08.06.2000;

2000 – INSIG SA expands its insuring activities in the territory of Kosovo, being one of the most successful companies in the insurance market of Kosovo;

2001 – Was designed the privatization strategy of INSIG SA ,with the assistance of the World Bank;

2002 – The Albanian Parliament approved the Law no. 8899, dated 22.5.2002 “On the determination of the form and formula of the privatization of INSIG SA”;

2003 – INSIG SA was licensed to exercise the activity of insurance in the territory of former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia;

2003 – In accordance also with the law that determined the form and the formula of privatization of INSIG SA, on 28 October 2003 were signed agreements between the Albanian government and the two international financial institutions (IFC & EBRD);

2004 – The Branch INSIG Macedonia AD Skopje starts its insurance activities in the territory of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia;

2004 – The Albanian Parliament ratifies the agreements: a) The purchase of shares (Law no. 9176, dated 29.01.2004), b) between the shareholders (Law no. 9177, dated 29.01.2004), c) reselling of the shares (Law No. . 9178, date 29.01.2004);

2004 – With the ratification of the three agreements, the shareholders of INSIG SA are:

  1. Republic of Albania, represented from Ministry of Finance with 61% of the shares or 1,036 (one thousand and thirty six) shares;
  2. European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (“EBRD”) with 19.5% of the shares or 332 (three hundred and thirty two) shares;
  3. International Finance Corporation (“IFC”) with 19.5% of the shares or 332 (three hundred and thirty-two) shares;

2006 – The Albanian Parliament approves the Law no. 9649, dated 27.11.2006 “On the determination of the form and formula of INSIG SA privatization” which revokes the Law no. 8899, dated 22.5.2002;

2006 – The Albanian Parliament ratifies the amendment of the agreement of shares resale of INSIG SA by the Law no. 9651, dated 11.12.2006;

2008 – The Albanian Parliament ratifies the second amendment of the agreement of shares resale of INSIG SA by the Law no. 9891, dated 20/03/2008.

2009 – INSIG SA changes the ownership of shares, which are owned at 100% by the Minister of Finance and ongoing.

2015 – INSIG S.C changing ownership of shares, which are owned 100% by the Ministry of Economy.

2016 – INSIG S.C privatized and changing ownership of shares, which are owned 100% by the Insurance Company “EUROSIG” S.C
